MODULE 1 | THE IMPORTANCE OF SEEINGThis module focuses on ways to advance your ability to observe the critical relationships of both shapes and values as well as to simplify the elements of nature into a range our paints can describe. This is essential to achieving a convincing illusion of light and depth.
MODULE 2 | MAKING THE MOST OF CHROMA
In this module, we will continue exploring the power and limitations of our colors. Knowing when you have hit a wall in terms of what your palette is capable of will allow you to use your time and energy more efficiently and effectively.
MODULE 3 | USING COLOR TO CREATE FORM
Our inability to reproduce everything we see in nature can lead to some creative ways to compensate for what our paints cannot do. This module will explain principles for using color changes in place of value changes, referred to as "conservation of values.
MODULE 4 | PUTTING THE PUZZLE TOGETHER
In this module, we will explore how the previous lessons in hue, value, and chroma play a role in composition and the elements of edges, detail, and contrast. Our goal will be to establish a strong center of interest and then add supporting areas to create a compelling harmonious work of art.
*Note - Within each module, there is a suggested assignment to put what you’ve learned into practice and a photo package of Laura's hand-selected images for you to use at any time.
